Welcome to Barrick Family Chiropractic Wellness Center

We are a chiropractic wellness center, providing  services to the Maine and New Hampshire seacoast areas, including Kittery, York, Portsmouth, Stratham, Newmarket, Dover, and surrounding communities.  We are conveniently located near Pease Air Force Base and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. We are dedicated to providing our patients with the best service and chiropractic care available today.

If you have been dealing with chronic pain or have been injured, you should consider seeking chiropractic care. The benefits of chiropractic treatment can be realized for many people with any variety of health conditions. Even those relatively “healthy” individuals with minor health issues can see the benefits of chiropractic care to improve the quality of their life. The impact of the daily physical and emotional stresses of life add up, taxing the human body in far greater ways than you might realize.  Regular chiropractic adjustments at Barrick Family Chiropractic can help to restore and maintain balance within, allowing the innately intelligent human body to function at its highest level possible.

We offer a variety of health care options for all ages. Our philosophy is to treat our patients as a whole person, and not just as a symptom or condition. We believe that our patients deserve the best care available, and we guarantee to deliver the best chiropractic experience possible.

What sets Barrick Family Chiropractic wellness center apart is the emphasis we place on each individual patient. Our care plans are designed around the patient’s goals, such as recovering from an auto accident or sports injury, relieving chronic pain to enjoy a hobby such as gardening or exercise, or even completing a marathon.  We utilize the latest technologies in computerized assessments of movement, abnormal anatomical function, nutrition, and much more. However, the best approach for your chiropractic care is the time we extend to really understand you and your challenges. We are not a high volume practice, and spend the time necessary with each patient to achieve the goals that they desire.

The Importance of Nutrition

At Barrick Family Chiropractic, we emphasize the importance of nutrition.  The “Triangle of Health” consists of Physical, Emotional, and Chemical components, and nutrition is a big part of the chemical side.  Many of today’s health problems are a result of poor nutrition. As part of every patient’s care and for no additional charge, we look at their food choices, perform pH testing for acid toxicity, and recommend a whole host of organic supplements and products to improve their overall health.  For example, because of all of the toxins we are exposed to daily, we are more prone to developing cancer from the carcinogenic chemicals present.  The American Cancer Society recommends that we consume 7-to-9 servings of fruits and vegetables every day, just to help prevent cancer! The average amercian consumes only 2-to-3 servings a day, therefore, we recommend Greensfirst to all patients, that provides 15+ servings of organic fruits and vegetables, and 50 superfoods.  To learn about Greensfirst and all of the products we carry, see the Nutrition Page

Posture is the position in which we hold our bodies while standing, sitting, or lying down. Good posture is the correct alignment of body parts supported by the right amount of muscle tension against gravity. Without posture and the muscles that control it, we would simply fall to the ground.

Normally, we do not consciously maintain normal posture.  Instead, certain muscles do it for us, and we don’t even have to think about it.  Several muscle groups, including the hamstrings and large back muscles, are critically important in maintaining good posture. While the ligaments help to hold the skeleton together, these postural muscles, when functioning properly, prevent the forces of gravity from pushing us over forward. Postural muscles also maintain our posture and balance during movement.

Most “poor posture” is the result of a forward head position.  To learn if this is your condition and how we at Barrick Family Chiropractic can correct it, click on this link
